Asian Community Alliance will have a FREE chartered bus to take you to Columbus and back on June 27th.
The Bus will leave from the ACA office at 8 AM promptly. 7577 Central Parke Blvd, Mason, OH. A light snack/water will be provided by us on the bus. Lunch will also be included.

1. If you are under 18 , a Field trip parental approval form must be filled and bring it with you.
2. Proper identification to enter the statehouse is required ( Any of the following: Driver license, student ID with photo or Passport )
Hundreds of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to gather at Ohio Statehouse for 2018 Ohio AAPI Legislative Day, June 27
Speakers to include Aftab Pureval, Ron Falconi, Grace Pai, Zale Piepho, Sam Shim
COLUMBUS – June 6, 2018 – The 8th annual Ohio Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) Legislative Day, Ohio’s largest statewide AAPI advocacy event, will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 10:00 am – 4:30 pm at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, OH. The 2018 Ohio AAPI Legislative Day will feature remarks from AAPI elected officials and community organizers, legislative visits with Ohio’s state senators and state representatives, and breakout sessions on several topics of importance to Ohio’s rapidly growing AAPI community. Registration is free and open to the public.
Speakers at the 2018 Legislative Day will include:
- Ron Falconi, Mayor of Brunswick, Ohio
- Aftab Pureval, Hamilton County Clerk of Courts
- Grace Pai, Senior Community Organizer, Midwest Region at Asian Americans Advancing Justice Chicago (AAJC Chicago)
- Zale Piepho, Co-organizer of Akron March for Our Lives
- Sam Shim, Vice President of Worthington Board of Education
Based on the results from a 2018 survey of Ohio AAPIs conducted by Legislative Day organizers, the event’s breakout sessions and legislative visits will focus on the following policy priorities:
- Combating hate crimes
- Mental health
- Increasing access to state services
- Gun violence and gun control
“This is an opportunity for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to showcase the growth, diversity, and influence of our community in Ohio. Whether you are a student, a professional, a business owner, and/or a concerned citizen, you can learn how to make a difference through advocacy on issues that affect us every day,” said Ron Katsuyama, Chair of the 2018 Ohio AAPI Legislative Day. “This is your chance to make your voice heard!”
At least 300 are expected to attend; individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and occupations are encouraged to participate, including students. Registration is free but required (deadline to register is June 22), and lunch will be provided. Organizers are arranging free round-trip transportation for registered attendees coming from outside of Columbus. More event details and online registration can be found at oahcoalition.org.
